Steve has been reporting on cardiovascular medicine continuously since 1984. His journey has included an internship in hospital public relations, four years as a writer and editor for Practical Cardiology, seven years as a journalist and associate editor at Cardio magazine, and nine years as a freelance reporter and editor. He joined theheart.org in 2004. A graduate of Kenyon College in Ohio with a master's in science communication/journalism from Boston University, Steve is the 2008 recipient of the Howard L Lewis Career Achievement Award for health and science reporting from the American Heart Association. He lives in Fremont, California, at the foot of the East Bay hills.
